Since I updated to iOS 18, my AirPods Pro transparency and conversation boost features are not working correctly. I have both selected, but there’s no difference whether they are on or off. I have hearing issues, and it was really helpful to use these as a backup to my hearing aids. Now I’m really disappointed because they feel like regular AirPods. Has anyone else had this problem and is there a fix? I reset to factory settings and paired them again, but that did not help.
I have noticed this too

Same here, just today.
It does not work for my AirPods at all. I switch to custom mode to make sure it is on, but I get no sound amplification for the conversation booster feature.

Have yours been disconnecting a lot? It has been happening with my iPad, and restarting it didn’t help.

This has been happening to me too since the iOS 18 update. I’m listening to music, and then both AirPods disconnect out of nowhere. Sometimes just one disconnects and reboots. Haptics also turn off for no reason.

I thought I was the only one with this problem.

I felt the same way

Same thing is happening to me. I kept trying to figure out if it was switching to another device, but it doesn’t seem to be. Glad I’m not the only one, it’s really annoying during a call.

This has happened to me too, and I have second generation AirPods.
I feel like I’m the first to deal with this. A quick fix is to not use an audiogram for the audio profile. Instead, try ‘balanced tone’ or ‘vocal brightness’ on my Mac. I saw a ‘custom audio setup’ button and tried it. It wouldn’t let me select my recent audiogram. It must be buggy until they release the new hearing features.

Thanks for your suggestion. It looks like it works after I switched from custom (which used to function) to one of the other options available. I will experiment to see which one works best for me.

No problem, I remember looking for posts about this and not finding any. Now that so many are facing the same issue, it’s nice to see we’re together on this.
I’ll mention that it still sometimes randomly turns off the transparency mode adjustments. I often have to turn it off and back on again.
In fact, I just checked, and it turned off again. But at least I hear it until I switch to adaptive or ANC. Slight, moderate, or strong sound boosts seem to stay the same.

I tried your method and it worked. Thanks so much for sharing the solution. It does turn off randomly, but as long as I can make it work for now, I’m okay.
I updated to iOS 18 today and now my AirPods Pro 2 transparency mode isn’t working. I reset them and turned my phone off and on, but nothing helped. It’s frustrating since I’m hard of hearing and rely on these like hearing aids. I hope it’s just a glitch and Apple is fixing it.
Okay, that’s strange. I think I fixed mine.
In settings - audio & visual - headphone accommodations - custom audio setup.
I used the custom (my audiogram) and then it took me to transparency mode. After that, it worked again like it should.
That’s odd.

I’m hesitant to say this too soon, but… I think you just helped me too – though I didn’t use a custom audio setup before the iOS 18 update messed everything up – might be premature, but thank you!

Sadly, I think you’ll find that the transparency mode will turn off again. I hope I’m wrong.

Yeah… weird. My first gen AirPods didn’t work right until after iOS 18. My gen 2s worked fine before the update, and now they don’t. Go figure.

Seems to have fixed mine too. Thanks!
