Okay, that’s strange. I think I fixed mine.
In settings - audio & visual - headphone accommodations - custom audio setup.
I used the custom (my audiogram) and then it took me to transparency mode. After that, it worked again like it should.
That’s odd.

Since I updated to iOS 18, my AirPods Pro transparency and conversation boost features are not working correctly. I have both selected, but there’s no difference whether they are on or off. I have hearing issues, and it was really helpful to use these as a backup to my hearing aids. Now I’m really disappointed because they feel like regular AirPods. Has anyone else had this problem and is there a fix? I reset to factory settings and paired them again, but that did not help.
My Pro 2s are unwearable since the iOS 18 update. The volume goes up and down randomly within 30 seconds. Sometimes it cuts out completely. I reset twice, removed the device from my account and set it up as new. Nothing worked. All modes have the same problems. I toggled conversation and loud sound modes as well as spatial audio, but that didn’t help. I wear them every day for work, and now they’re useless. Just terrible.

Same thing has been happening to me. Please let me know if you find a new solution.

I can’t get mine to work with Apple Music or Podcasts, but they work fine with other apps.

My AirPods won’t work at all. I reset them and tried to reconnect, but nothing happens.

It’s not just iOS 18, but the new firmware for the AirPods Pro 2. The transparency mode is broken.

Thank you for posting this. I thought I was alone, but when I went to the Apple store for a repair, they told me to wait for iOS 18.1.

Same issue here. The transparency mode keeps turning off.

What do you mean by that?
There’s a feature on AirPods Pro (1st & 2nd Gen) that makes the transparency mode clearer. It feels like you don’t have them in. But after the iOS 18 update, when you take them out and put them back in, the custom transparency mode turns off. It happens even if you only take one out.

Oh, I was toggling the modes while they were in my ears and it worked fine. I didn’t realize it was when taking one out.

There are many scenarios.
I have an Apple watch, and I used to have the ‘raise to speak’ feature for Siri. Whenever I raised my wrist, it thought I needed Siri and would turn off my custom transparency mode.

There’s definitely interference between the watch, phone, and AirPods because I’m having the same issue.

It used to be that if you turned on the transparency mode on the phone, it would stay active even when you walked away and used your watch. Today, when I turned it on for a walk, I also turned off the wifi, and as soon as I turned off Bluetooth, the transparency mode turned off. I guess they are managing the audio through the phone now.

Totally broken. I really wish Apple would test features with actual users, but unless you have a computer science degree they don’t value your input.
