It can’t charge though. The brand I used is Baseus, and it’s pretty solid. Just don’t expect it to stay on during a bumpy car ride.

The Apple logo was always centered on MacBooks and iPads but didn’t move to the middle on iPhones until the iPhone X and 8, probably so people knew where to place it for wireless charging before MagSafe came out.

That’s not true. The logo got centered with the iPhone 11, and it had nothing to do with wireless charging.

Yeah, I wasn’t sure how strong the MagSafe connection would be. Turns out it’s strong enough, even with it off-center.

I balanced it on the edge of a small board and estimated from there.

Looks like the Apple logo isn’t centered vertically. Your MagSafe adapter seems like it’s in the right spot.

It’s a new feature.
This will work for a while, but over time, the glue holding the magnets weakens, especially with heat, and the magnets fall off. Happens to everyone who tries DIY MagSafe stuff.
