My last post was about my battery dropping to 99% after 25 cycles. Now it’s down to 98%. What could be happening?
Don’t stress too much. My 15 did the same thing. It dropped a percent at 25 and 30 cycles, but then stayed at 97% until 165 cycles. Now it’s at 198 cycles and hasn’t budged. Batteries are chemical, so they age regardless of what you do. A friend’s 15 stayed at 100% until 265 cycles, but then it dropped to 96% in a few days. Best advice? Use your device and don’t worry.
You’re doomed… chuck it in the bin.
If your battery was made in December 2023 and you started using it in August 2024, that could explain it.
Just get a new battery… maybe 10 of them, just in case.
Could be heat or third-party chargers causing the issue.

Someone at the Apple shop told me to use ugreen chargers if I’m not using Apple ones. Said they’re the closest in quality.
Battery health will go down eventually. You can slow it down a bit:
- Use a slow charger (5w).
- Don’t use the phone while charging.
- Keep the charge above 30%.
- Set a limit to 80–85%.
- Avoid MagSafe as it generates extra heat.

I’ve ignored all of this! My iPhone 12 is at 76% after 3.5 years, and I use it for YouTube and podcasts all day. I’ll treat my 15 better… maybe.

There are so many factors involved, like your local climate and battery chemistry. It’s a big topic you could write a thesis on.

Same here. My 15PM is at 91% after 13 months, and I don’t follow any of those tips.
@Jai
I follow all these except for the slow charger. I use 20w, and my battery is still 100% after 8 months.

Some say MagSafe doesn’t affect battery life much. So, what’s the truth?

Comments aren’t tests. Studies show MagSafe can speed up battery wear due to heat. Apple promises 80% capacity after 800 cycles, so normal users who replace phones every two years shouldn’t worry. But if you want your battery to last 3–4 years, follow the tips. MagSafe charging creates more heat, which damages the battery.
You can’t stop it from going down. In fact, trying to stop it might make it worse. Just enjoy your phone.
To everyone reading… stop checking battery health. Just use your phone.
Mine’s at 98% after 37 cycles (iPhone 15). Stop worrying about things that are meant to wear out. Replace the battery when it’s not holding up anymore. Phones are for convenience, not stress.
You could sue Apple for this. Find a good lawyer.
File a warranty claim… go now before it’s too late.
You should return this defective phone.
