I can’t imagine an Apple 32 inch 6K 120hz priced around 2,000 dollars. Is there even a broader user base beyond vocal people on this forum to market it to?

I just want a standalone 30 to 32 inch 6K display that’s not 5,000 dollars.
It would be better if they allowed people to connect another HDMI device to this iMac. I love the iMac, but having a 30 inch plus display that can only link to specific Apple hardware is frustrating.

If they did, they wouldn’t sell as many 5,000 dollar monitors. I’m not defending a massive company, but the reality is they care about profits more than customer satisfaction. They’ll create products if they believe it will generate more revenue than before. That’s just the system we have.
@Dara
How many do they even sell now? I bet it’s not many. The few even listed second-hand are priced like brand new and there aren’t many available.
Most profit doesn’t always come from having the highest prices. Lower prices can increase sales, leading to higher total profits.
This depends on how much it costs to build the item, of course. The first generation Pro Display seems to have taken a lot of custom work. Now, many screens with similar resolutions are available from other suppliers, and miniLED production has increased, reducing costs. Just look at the fantastic miniLED 120hz displays on Apple’s MacBook Pros.
Now, five years later, it’s possible that Apple might release some great professional monitors - not necessarily aimed at perfect cinema reproduction - at reasonable prices while still profiting better than they do on the current Pro Display. There have been rumors about them working on new 27 inch and 32 inch miniLED monitors, though they haven’t revealed any price details yet.
