Absolutely Stunned About Accuracy for Auto-Sleep Tracking

So today I had my day off! Even though I woke up early for exercise, did all the home chores :broom::basket:, and had a little pending work completed, by noon I really had nothing else to do. So I started watching something on Netflix! Eventually, I nodded off :sleeping: on my sofa! I woke up when there was a loud thud at the door. It was the delivery person :package:! After freshening up, I went through my todayā€™s activities on my Apple Watch 9 :watch:. I was amazed to see my Apple Watch had auto-tracked my ā€œlittle napā€ too. Wow, what an interesting piece of technology I have bought for myself!!!

Yeah. Itā€™s amazing. I found it more accurate than any other watches. For my Pixel Watch/Fitbit, I would constantly need to edit it. For the Apple Watch, I donā€™t think thereā€™s even a way to edit it. Itā€™s like Apple is saying, ā€˜Please, you fool, we know when and how much you slept.ā€™

@Dorian
Yeah, thatā€™s right!! Iā€™m amazed :raised_hands:.

@Dorian
Unfortunately, the Sleep Apnea Detection feature is yet to be introduced in India! Maybe they will introduce it with future updates!!

Itā€™s always accurate for me too. The only exception is when I was slacking/daydreaming during work; the watch tells me I was napping :joy:.

Apple Watch never tracks my naps. Do I have to turn on something for it to work? For me, the watch only tracks when Iā€™m in sleep focus mode.

Same for me with an AW Ultra 2. For naps, it does track but not the individual sleep stages.

@Joss
You need to turn on ā€˜Track Sleep with Apple Watchā€™ in settings.

Will try that. Thanks!

What model do you have?

With Apple Watch Series 3 or later with watchOS 8, you can measure and track your Respiratory Rate.

@Linden
I have Series 10. Respiratory rate tracking is on and works normally throughout the day and at night.

Mine too; I have to manually enter the sleep focus or set a sleep schedule, otherwise it would never track.

@Happy
I have set my sleep schedule from 12:00 AM to 7:00 AM. But sometimes I go to bed early without changing the schedule, and still, my Apple Watch 9 tracks the time I went to bed, whether itā€™s 11:00 PM or I wake up after 7:00 AM.

Interesting; I donā€™t look at mine or always wear it at bedtime. Iā€™ve done a home sleep study. I wish it had the oxygen saturation back.

Iā€™ve got the SE1 and mine hasnā€™t been very accurate, more so lately. Most nights it claims Iā€™m asleep from literally the moment my head hits the pillow.

I think you should look around in the Health App. It has everything about what your AW can track. There is a ā€˜Track Sleep with Apple Watchā€™ function; turn it on. I think that might help.
