Still pretty pissed they are capping the size at 24 inches on the display
Waiting for the Mini announcement.
No, there is still no 27” option. This has been my biggest problem with the M iMacs so far and I’ve been waiting for the larger option since the iMac M1 was introduced. I’m currently using a 27” 5K iMac with an i5, but it’s starting to show signs of age. At least there’s 16GB of RAM now, that was getting ridiculous, but 256GB of memory is also an outdated base configuration.
The colors aren’t attractive, but I’d be willing to ignore that if at least the bezel was black. Who came up with the white option…? Horrible.
If there is also an update for the Mac Mini, I’m considering going for a Mac Mini and a 5K monitor (probably LG or Dell).
I still can’t believe they reduced the iconic king of Macs to this Toys R Us looking abomination.

Hasn’t the iMac always kinda looked like a toy? Well, it started out that way with the original bondi blue iMac. Somewhere in the middle they got all serious looking, but went back to pretty colors in recent years.

I wish they made a space black one with black bezels. A carbon fiber one would look awesome too. It’s the pastel colors that make it look like a toy.

This comment is empty, admin should fix
old intel iMac will be much more interesting than this omg
I was going to pull the trigger on an m3 - but kept weighing options of 16gb and 4 USB ports…Now i’m wondering if refurb m3s are gonna start popping up. Or…if it’s even worth looking at m1s now (open to thoughts on the subject).
That being said a base m4 with 16GB for 1299 seems like a good deal - this would be my first mac. The 256GB is low but I have an nvme ready to pop into an enclosure.
Ok I guess I’m the one oddball who is actually considering this now. The use case is mainly for my music studio. I’ve been using my intel 2019 mbp for recording and have been considering upgrading to Apple silicon for a while now. But also have been considering keeping the mpb for other tasks like development and general use as long as it’s working.
Been thinking about just possibly getting something standalone like an iMac for that space, but it’s been hard to justify the price with all the upgrades to make it usable. Was thinking I’d wait until the new one came out then see if I can get a cheap version of the m3.
But now instead the m4 is looking very appealing with much more reasonable specs for the same price.
If I didn’t already have one, I’d buy one for sure. My M1 iMac is a dream to use. I bought it CTO with 16/1TB, and it keeps up with everything I throw at it. I don’t make my living editing video, so the difference between M1 and M4 is not too significant. But yeah, I truly believe this is an underrated masterpiece of a computer in whichever configuration.
On that topic, I suspect that the majority of these are going to wind up in school classrooms and computer labs, and in offices, where local storage won’t be particularly critical, so I think bumping the memory but not the ssd was a wise move.
Nope, but I would love for new MacAir or Pro to have as many colours!!
Still 60hz?
I will not be buying one. Remember back in the day of the OG iMac when every refresh received a bump in the storage—even for the base configuration? They finally bump the base memory and STILL hobble it with just 256GB of storage? Absolutely ridonkulous.
Nope. I needed a 27" version not a lemon flavored one. I am hoping the new mac mini’s will provide a solution.
Will they ever release a 27 inch version?
If they would bring back the 27” option, I would consider it. I got the last generation Intel (2020) before they switched to Apple Silicon. So other than not having AI capability, I am sitting good with what I do with it.
I’m more interested in the new MacBook Pro’s. My current on is a 2014 version. So I don’t even get Mac OS updates anymore. That’ll be my next big upgrade.
No. I’m waiting for the Mac Mini
No. Need at least 27"
