YouTube floating window… is it for everyone now?

I’ve been seeing this YouTube floating window pop up now and then. I remember it used to be a feature just for people with premium accounts, but I haven’t had a premium subscription for almost a year now. Is this happening for anyone else?

Yeah, I started getting it recently too. It sounds like some people have had it forever even without premium. Maybe YouTube’s testing it in the background? I stick with my Tubey shortcut though… that way I avoid ads.

I haven’t heard of Tubey before… is it something I can get from the App Store?

No, it’s actually a shortcut. Super easy to set up and use.

If you’re in the US, it seems like premium isn’t needed. Maybe they made it free in your country too?

It’s free for people in the US, but who knows… they could be rolling it out elsewhere.

I’m in Australia, don’t have premium but have had this happen randomly. Anyone know why?

I’m also in Australia… I think it depends on the YouTube channel, some allow it and some don’t.

Yeah, that’s what I noticed too. Sometimes it’s there, then it’s gone… kind of strange :thinking:

I’m in Egypt and it only works for certain channels like Linus Tech Tips, not others. Weird :thinking:

In the US, it seems to work on non-copyrighted videos. For example, personal channels work, but something like a VEVO music video might not.

In the US, it’s fine on any video except music ones. It’s probably just a way to get people to subscribe to YouTube Music (which I’m not a fan of, honestly).

Same here in Russia, it’s been like this for a few years.

@Vic
Haha, nice.

I’m in the US and have had this feature for at least a couple of years now.
