Why don’t we have a temp app on Apple Watch?

The Apple Watch can measure body temperature, but the only way to see the data from the sensor is inside the Health app. Why don’t we have a separate app for that?

It’s all in the Health app. It doesn’t need its own app because it’s just giving you a daily average. It’s not accurate enough to use like a heart rate sensor because of the heat the watch itself generates. It needs to measure on its own time.

@Neve
Is there something like bathwater temperature or something? I have a Series 6, so I’m not sure, but I heard about something like that.

Yeah, the Series 10 has water temperature monitoring.

It can’t actually measure your body temp while on your wrist. It can only detect changes in temp, but that wouldn’t be useful for a thermometer app, so there isn’t one.

I don’t think that’s correct. Just because the Health app gives you a change from a baseline doesn’t mean it can’t measure body temp. The raw data clearly shows the actual temp it recorded.

@HenryElla2
Yeah, there are third-party apps like Athlytic that give you the exact daily average temperature instead of just the change.

@HenryElla2
It doesn’t measure core body temp though, just your wrist temp, which isn’t the same thing.

@HenryElla2
Right, it does measure a temp, but it’s usually lower than your actual body temperature.

You can scroll through the graph in the Health app, click ‘show all data,’ and check each entry for more details.

It’s not accurate enough, which is why it only works when you’re asleep and not moving.

I couldn’t even get mine to work at all. Tried everything and just gave up. So you’re ahead of me at least.

Did you try enabling sleep focus?

You also need to turn on wrist temperature in the settings. It takes a week or two to start showing up in the sleep and vitals sections.

Make sure your watch follows the same focus mode as your phone. I had the same issue until I set my watch to follow my phone’s sleep focus mode.

I have the Series 10, and I’m still not seeing any data after a few weeks.

@Peyton
Did you check your sleep focus settings?

Yep, everything’s on and I use sleep mode every night. Still no data showing in vitals or sleep.

Same here, still no data even with everything set up right.

@Dustin
Yeah, I’m in the same boat. All my settings are correct, sleep focus is on, but still no luck.
