Why are my calls being silenced

Hi everyone,

I have an iPhone SE (3rd gen), and since updating to iOS 16.1.1, I have been experiencing a strange issue where my calls sometimes get automatically silenced. It does not happen often, but it is quite frustrating.

Is anyone else having this problem, and is there a fix for it?

Thanks!

Many iPhone users have encountered issues after updating to iOS 16.1.1. Here are some potential solutions:

Check These Settings:

  • Do Not Disturb: Ensure Do Not Disturb is disabled or set up correctly.
  • Silence Unknown Callers: Verify this feature isn’t inadvertently activated. Check under Settings > Phone.
  • Call Forwarding: Confirm that Call Forwarding is turned off.
  • Ringtone and Silent Switch: Make sure your iPhone is not on silent and that a ringtone is set.
  • Screen Time: Review if Communications Limits are affecting incoming calls.

Additional Tips:

  • Restart Your iPhone: Often, a simple restart can fix temporary glitches.
  • Update to the Latest iOS Version: Look for updates, as Apple may have released a patch.
  • Contact Apple Support: If the issue continues, contact Apple Support for further help.

It appears that this is the function for “silence unknown caller.” Find it under Phone, Settings. I’m not using an English device, so I’m not familiar with the precise language.

Had a similar problem. The solution is simple.

Navigate to the settings and find the option labelled “Disable and silence unknown callers.”

Calls from unknown numbers that finish in voicemail or without a conversation are considered silent calls. Numbers that have already been reached are not blocked. Call options include a function for silent calls.
