So if you had to pick, which one would you choose and why?
I’d go for the IP16. It has better long-term support, and it comes with new audio mix features that the IP15 Pro doesn’t have. The 15 Pro also has heating issues and a worse battery. The camera on both models is quite similar, so if 60hz isn’t a problem for you, go for the IP16. It’s lighter, has better colors, and it’s cheaper. You might want to wait for the IP17, which could come with ProMotion. A lot of people actually downgraded to the IP16 from their Pros.
@Tariq
Why would they downgrade?
Well, the IP16 has almost all the Pro features except for the zoom and ProMotion. It also has the new macro mode for the camera. Everything else works better on the IP16, and it’s cheaper too.
@Tariq
What’s this audio mix feature?
The new phones have a feature called Audio Mix, which lets you adjust the sounds in your videos. You can remove background noise, make the sound more cinematic, or even boost certain sounds over others. It’s a great feature for video recording. Plus, the stabilization and camera lighting have improved, especially for the front camera.

I’d never buy the regular iPhone, always go for the Pro. The long-term support doesn’t matter much to me; I just buy a new one every year and sell the old one. I get why some people like the regular ones, though, especially since iPhones hold their value so well. If I had to pick, I’d choose the 15 Pro.
@Tyler
You do you, but I think the Pros are just a gimmick. The 16 is good enough.
Without a doubt, go for the 16. Trust me, don’t get the 15 Pro. My friend has it and the battery life is terrible. He gets about 3 hours of screen time before it runs low, and it overheats. His battery health is already at 79% after just a year. I recently got the 16, and it’s amazing. I get 6-8 hours of screen time, and I have all the latest features. The Pro features really aren’t a big deal in this generation.
@Remy
79% after a year? That sounds odd. Are you sure it wasn’t a faulty battery?
It depends on what you care about more. If it’s photography, go for the 15 Pro. If it’s battery life, then the 16 is the better choice.
I had to choose, and I picked the 16 base model. It has a better chip, and I don’t mind the camera or 120hz screen. I also found the 16 on sale through my carrier. Either phone is good, just pick the one with the features you care about the most.
I might go for the 15 Pro Max since it’s better and I can get it for the same price as the 16 Plus with 128GB.
I had the 15 Pro and switched to the 16 Plus, but I’d choose the normal 16 over the 15 Pro. The battery life on the 15 Pro was bad, and it would get warm too quickly. I’m not a heavy user either.
I have the base 16, but if I could choose, I’d pick the 15 Pro. It has a better screen with ProMotion and a stronger GPU. The camera is better on the 15 Pro too, but it’s a Pro model, so that’s expected. Both phones will get good support from Apple, so no worries there. I think the 15 Pro is a better option, but the 16 is still a solid phone.
@Porter
The 15 Pro has terrible heating issues and battery life, it’s a dealbreaker for me.

I didn’t know about that, thanks for the heads-up.
Both phones have their issues. It’s up to you to decide which ones matter more. The 15 Pro has battery problems and overheating, and the 16 still has a 60hz screen and a useless camera button. I’d go for the 15 Pro because you can replace the battery, but with the 16, you’re stuck with that outdated screen tech. I wouldn’t want to spend $900+ on a phone with a 60hz screen.
@Deen
I’m planning to get one for my wife. She’s using an IP7 right now, mainly for work, like Outlook and Teams. She also uses it for SMS, calls, and some TikToks. She takes some pictures of our daughter too. She’s not very tech-savvy, and I need something that’ll fit well in her hand since my 15 Pro Max feels too big for her.
