I checked the info section on iMessage and saw this. I have no idea what it means. The photo on the left is the same as the contact photo I had set before.
Try to refresh then see what happens
Recent Photo Update" on iPhone Contacts or Messages on iOS 17 typically refers to the feature that automatically updates the profile pictures of your contacts when they change their photos.
Maybe it is an auto update from your contacts profile photo
