Upgraded from iPhone 11… is the iPhone 16 Pro really worth it?

I take a lot of photos and make music, so getting the iPhone 16 Pro felt like a great move. The camera is amazing, the battery lasts a long time, and having 256GB storage means I don’t have to worry about space.

I’ve taken so many great pictures just because I always have the phone with me. Some might say it’s pricey, but for me, the quality makes it worth it.

At the end of the day, price and value aren’t the same thing.

I made the same switch a few weeks ago. Still getting used to the extra weight.

Thinking about upgrading too… my battery life is terrible. I’d rather just buy it outright instead of getting stuck in a contract.

@Keenan
I did the same. Got mine second-hand, but it was basically brand new, just five days old.

Battery life has been amazing so far.

That’s great to hear.

Smart choice.

I upgraded from a 13 and totally get what you mean. First time getting the top model, and I don’t regret it at all.

So you spent more money and got a better product? Shocking news.

Congrats on the new phone. Are you using a case or going without one?

@Ari
Haha, thanks.

Got it on launch day and have been using a Spigen case since. I don’t mind covering up the design since I care more about how it works than how it looks.

Fair enough.

I’d probably go for AppleCare+ and no case, but that’s a bit expensive. Why not something like an Otterbox for extra protection?

@Ari
I’ve always used Spigen, and it’s been great. Thinking about switching to something that protects the camera better though.

I’m used to shooting with actual cameras. How does the iPhone compare to an EOS R5 or X2D?

I like real cameras too. I have a Hasselblad 500C/M, a Canon A-1, and an EOS 80D.

The iPhone actually does really well, even if you’re not shooting RAW. The built-in photo styles give you plenty of control when editing. Low light is where you really notice it’s a phone, but overall, I think it holds up pretty well.

My old €100 CCD camera still takes more natural-looking photos than an iPhone 16 Pro Max.

I feel like the newer iPhones process photos too much.

I’m still using an 11 Pro Max, and my wife has a 16 Pro Max. The pictures just don’t look as natural anymore.

Glad I’m not the only one who thinks that. The iPhone X had way better-looking photos. Everything now looks too processed.

Nice try, Apple marketing team.

That same 16 Pro 256GB costs €2314 here in Turkey. Even the 16E 128GB is €1262.

Fun fact: Our minimum wage is €581, and we don’t have monthly payment options for phones.

I’m 21 too, but I can’t afford a new phone. You guys are lucky.

This is why upgrading every 4-6 years makes the most sense. You get real improvements without spending crazy amounts all the time.

If you’re outside the US, it’s even harder to keep up with yearly upgrades. Happy for you though, the 16 Pro looks great. Enjoy it… maybe wait for the iPhone XX next time :thinking:.

It’s just a phone, man. Relax :skull:
