You should definitely go for the Air. It’s fantastic.
Definitely get the Air 4 since it supports the Apple Pencil Gen 2 and has a fully laminated display.

!!! Apple Pencil Gen 2 has no pressure sensitivity and you want to do digital art.
Hold on! A new version with better RAM is coming soon, possibly with more storage too.

I’m in Canada, and it’s quite expensive here.
What currency are you talking about? That price is similar to a new one, if not more.

I need one that allows for a lot of art. Can I get one with an SD card slot?

iPads don’t have SD card slots, but you can plug in an external drive. How large are your files? My raw 4000x4000 .kra files with many layers are maybe 20-30 MB on my laptop.
@Ashton
I just want to make sure I won’t run out of space when I start digital art. I don’t know how big my files will be. Can I use something like Dropbox when it gets full?

So you’re new to digital art? If you don’t have another use for an iPad, I wouldn’t recommend getting one. A cheap graphics tablet could do the job just fine.
@Ashton
I need it for digital art, notes for school, and some manga downloads. Primarily for digital art though.

If you want to use the Apple Pencil a lot, I’d recommend either the 5th gen or 6th gen Air. You can connect an external SSD and the pencil attaches and charges magnetically. The Air also offers better performance.
@Ashton
Is the 5th gen Air considered bad in performance? It only has 64GB?

I’m on a budget.

You might want to save up for a 128GB 5th gen. You probably don’t need 256GB.

Go for the M1 Air. You’ll get a much better chip with 8GB RAM and a laminated display, which is great for art. It will also be supported longer than the others.

You mean the iPad 5th gen Air?
