I recently broke my MacBook screen for the second time It’s an Air 2020 and I’ve had it for about 3 and a half years
My last screen repair cost me $460 So here’s the situation Should I pay to fix the screen again or just buy a new one I know 3.5 years isn’t a long time for a Mac but it feels a bit odd knowing this would be the third screen on it Does that even matter
I’ve noticed it started to slow down a little but it’s nothing serious just happens when I have too many tabs open in Safari
I also only have one year of university left so I probably won’t use it much after that
I’m clearly indecisive but I’d love to hear any thoughts or suggestions Thanks

Why would you fix it You’ll just break it again Time for you to join the headless MacBook crew
I agree If you’re on a budget get a second-hand monitor and deal with it for the last year You can also buy a new one I don’t see why you won’t need a computer after graduation
The screens are super sensitive Clearly I’m not careful enough but if anything as small as a grain of rice gets stuck between the screen and base it’ll crack
You can get an M1 8GB 256GB for $699 to help you through school If you have the cash you should get a MacBook Air 16GB 512GB 15" with AppleCare to last you through the first few years of working or grad school
If you do buy a new one make sure to get the yearly AppleCare + so you have accidental coverage on that Mac since you seem to have trouble with screens Also a good sleeve would help
I broke mine too but didn’t fix it I just got an iPad instead So now it’s my main screen It’s not worth fixing when you know it’s likely to break again
