Looking for Tips as a New MacBook Pro User

Hello everyone,

I just got a new MacBook Pro with the M3 Pro chip, 18GB of RAM, and a 512GB SSD. I used to have an older MacBook Pro with an Intel processor but didn’t fully understand macOS(gave it to my sister). Now that I have this amazing machine, I’d appreciate tips on how to make the most of it and customize the background. Any thoughts?

Thank you!

It’s Apple, not Corn

I always got that wrong. I never considered turning it on to actually use it

Consider getting Applecare plus for some peace of mind, especially for the battery replacement you might need after a couple of years. AC+ has saved me on some repairs. There’s a lot you can do with the M3, enjoy your purchase

Can you tell me more about this ‘free battery replacement’? I got Apple care and want to make sure I use it fully

What exactly does it mean to replace your battery? Do you keep the same laptop and they just swap out the battery like you would with a AA battery?

Yeah, pretty much just switch out the battery. iPhones are the same, but iPads have their batteries glued in and are replaced entirely

If your battery capacity is below 80%, they’ll replace it for free. Generally, you can get about 800-1000 cycles. It makes sense to consider getting that battery service since these often don’t last long without it

You must be using it plugged in or completely draining it. I’m nearing two years trying to get my free battery replacement haha

I only use it for photos or travel and plug it in when editing. Otherwise, it’s off

It’s funny to think you might not get that free battery replacement even though you’re trying.

Going out of your way to ruin a battery just to get a replacement seems wasteful. Think about how these programs change when abused.

Maybe just be careful?

I’m starting to think I’m doing something right, 100% after 78 cycles

Could be that the new chip is giving you better battery life
