Is the new iMac dropping soon?

I’ve been seeing some talk online that the new M4 iMac might be announced or even released sometime this month or next.

I was planning to buy a new one soon but now I’m thinking maybe I should wait if something new is coming.

Anyone got any solid info on this?

I hope it comes with 16GB RAM as the standard model, or else I won’t be upgrading my 2012 iMac anytime soon haha.

From what I’ve read, it probably will. The new Apple stuff seems to need 16GB as a minimum.

Same here! But honestly, I’ll need a 27” 8K screen to make the jump! :man_shrugging::rofl:

My setup: 2019 i9 • 27” 5K • Vega48 • 128GB • 1TB SSD

I saw the Constant Geekery channel mention that an iMac refresh is a ‘maybe.’

Could happen sooner than 2 months. I’m hearing it might be announced this month, October.

Yeah, that’s what I’m hearing too. Fingers crossed.

I’m expecting news soon too. I currently have an M1 with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage, and I’m ready to upgrade to the M4 with 24GB and 1TB.

Yeah, you should wait. The new iMac will come with updated peripherals too, like a mouse, trackpad, and keyboard with new features and USB-C support. Just give it two months.

Thanks, that’s exactly the info I needed.

I’m hoping they offer a 32GB RAM option as well.

They should. With 16GB being the minimum now, 32GB is likely an option.

I really want an iMac right now, but I don’t want to end up buying an older model when something new is right around the corner.

Same here. I’ve noticed the prices for used ones dropping just in the last week. It’s gotta be any day now.
