Is it worth updating to iOS 18.1.1 on iPhone 15?

I got the iPhone 15 a few weeks ago and was thinking about updating to iOS 18.1.1. But I’m concerned about battery life and health. Should I go ahead with it or wait? Sorry if my English isn’t perfect.

Just update it for security reasons

18.2 might be out next week.

Should I wait for 18.2 then?

If you want to save 10 minutes, yes.

You can update to 17.2.2 instead, that’s a good option.

Why go with 17.2.2 though?

It has an important security fix.

But why not update to iOS 18 then?

@Kim
17 is a proven OS. The iPhone 15 was made for 17, it shipped with it. iPhone 16 doesn’t even run iOS 17.

But newer versions are supposed to be optimised for each phone. It’s like someone getting an iPhone 11 in 2019 and never updating past iOS 13. That’s just silly.

Yeah, iOS 17.7.2 is more stable than iOS 18.

What iOS are you using now? Can you share your Geekbench 6 score for CPU and GPU?

@Zhen
I’m on 17.2.2.

17.2.2 seems to score much higher than the average iPhone 15, it’s even better than the iPhone 14 Pro Max and iPhone 15 Plus.

Don’t get confused by different opinions. Just update your 15 when you can. It’s working fine for me with the latest update. Battery life depends on many factors, including your usage, so you can’t blame the update or phone model unless there are specific issues.

Honestly, my battery drains pretty fast even after turning off a bunch of settings. But hopefully, the next update will fix it.

Are you using the iPhone 15?
