Disney has started rolling out support for a new feature that lets you track your food and beverage orders directly on the lock screen of your iPhone at their U.S. parks. The feature works on iPhones with iOS 16.1 or later, so if you have an iPhone 14 Pro or newer, you can see it in the Dynamic Island too.
I wish more companies would take advantage of this in their apps. So far, McDonald’s is about the only one I’ve seen, it’s useful for just having your order code there on the lock screen. Would be very useful for pizza deliveries.
@Teagan
DoorDash did it once for me and never again

They do A/B testing. I had it then I lost it, now I have it again.

I always seem to get the short end of the stick for A/B testing

Same thing with me and the United Airlines app
@Teagan
Chick-fil-A does as well
@Teagan
Crumbl lets you check in and pick up and Best Buy tells you how long till order ready and some other stuff
@Teagan
Not a restaurant app, but United does this and it shows you very relevant info for your flight.
@Teagan
Bojangles as well
@Teagan
Grab does it for food delivery and rides.
@Bo
It’s a different system but yes, that’s part of Apple Wallet. You double click, just like using Apple Pay, use FaceID/TouchID to “unlock” (without opening the phone), then scroll through to find your ID.
@Teagan
Pretty sure Wonder does this.
@Teagan
Never saw the McDonald’s app do this, is it A/B?
Disney announced that it’s rolling out the Live Activities feature on iPhones for food orders across Walt Disney World and Disneyland. This feature lets you track the status of your mobile order without opening the apps, just by checking your lock screen or Dynamic Island.
As someone who lives in Orlando and ends up going too many times with family and friends that are visiting, this is definitely a welcome update. Now can we get universal to support the wallet app for tickets?
The more apps adopt live activities the better.
People hate on Disney (rightfully) but their usage of tech in consumer friendly fashion at the parks is pretty well done
@Sia
I agree. Going to a Disney park now requires you to be nose down in your phone all day and to have advance notice of all the unadvertised ways the app works. Food, rides, shows, pictures, you all have to be in the app so much. And god forbid you have poor service, you’re fucked and have to just settle for no lightning lane passes and no food reservations and just extending your wait times waaay out.
