Is dish soap safe for Apple's silicone case?

Water and cloth don’t clean anything. Also, they didn’t mention soap, which is why I asked.

I think the idea is that the silicone cases don’t let anything stick to them, so you just need to wipe off whatever it is.

@Graydon
I’m just used to cleaning my cases once a week, otherwise they get greasy. I guess I’ll try Apple’s recommendation for a bit and see. I just got the case 5 days ago.

Had mine since day 1 of the 16PM release. No issues yet and I’m not gentle with it at all.

I used an anti-bacterial wipe on my silicone Smart Folio (iPad) during COVID and ruined it permanently. Just follow what Apple says.

Damn. Did you ever try dish soap? I cleaned my iPhone 13 Pro Max leather case with a little soap and water and never had an issue. This is my first silicone case though.

@Vic
I think at the time I was worried about getting Covid, never tried Dawn. I was just trying to stay healthy.

Honestly, avoid using any products unless it’s absolutely necessary. A damp microfiber cloth is enough, maybe slightly warm.

If you have spilled oil or something that can’t be cleaned with just water, try using a little bit of Dawn dish soap (or something similar, without lemon), mix it in a cup of water, and use it to wet the cloth. Alcohol could ruin stuff but I don’t think using alcohol wipes once will ruin it, unless you do it every day. On my 13 Pro, I used an alcohol wipe a couple of times and nothing bad happened. It ended up breaking though; it’s not the strongest case.

Also, black will look dirty sooner than clear colors. Not actual dirt, but the silicone wears over time, and spots where your hand has more friction will show it, like the keyboard of a laptop when the most used keys look shiny.

@Haven
What do you mean by clear colors?
