Is Apple less strict now?

I’ve been using iPhones since the 5s, and now with the 16 Pro, I can’t help but notice that things have become a bit glitchy since iOS 16. Features seem less smooth and polished, and I’m seeing interface glitches that weren’t as common before. Is it just my memory playing tricks, or do you all feel the same way?

I see what you mean. It seems like they’ve moved away from the motto of delaying a launch to avoid bad products. It’s disappointing how financial priorities are overshadowing quality.

Quality is really suffering these days. The stock market pressures them to compromise, and I worry that Apple is falling into that trap.

As a long-time user, I’ve noticed the bugs too. iOS is way more complex now with integrated features like earbuds and watches. They introduced Beta versions for a reason. From my testing background, I think automated testing might miss issues that a human would catch.

@Tilden
I agree that the hardware usually works great, like the Apple Watch and earbuds. My main issue is with the operating system itself.

I switched from Android, and I don’t remember iOS being this buggy on my 16. It’s not completely unusable, but I expected better.

What kind of bugs are you encountering? I still notice the keyboard clicks getting really loud when switching apps.

I don’t think it’s worse than before. I see this same complaint every year. Personally, iOS 18.1 has been pretty solid for me. Some features feel half-baked, but I know they’re working on it.

This is my first iPhone, and I find mine really glitchy.

I have the 15 Pro, and it feels like they stopped caring about quality control a while back. Each iOS release feels less stable.

For me, the iPhone 16 Pro and iOS 18 had the worst launch experience, both compared to iOS and Android.

iOS has had its ups and downs. I remember how bad iOS 7 and iOS 11 were. I found my iPhone 7 running iOS 16, and it feels more responsive than my SE 2nd gen with iOS 17.

I’m not sure. I’ve had iPhones since the 4s or 5 and I usually wait until the OS has a couple of updates before I upgrade. I’ve even waited up to 6 months. I’m on an XS now and not in a hurry to update.

I think what everyone’s saying here is probably true. It seems like things are a bit worse now, likely because of them finishing Apple Intelligence. Once that’s done, I hope the software improves.

You’re right. Since iOS 14, it feels like they’ve rushed features and the OS is just falling apart.

It’s been a couple of years. They added a lot of unnecessary features in iOS 16 and just seem to keep going down that path. It’s a shame because I used to love Apple products for their simplicity.

Totally agree.

Can anyone explain why Apple allows you to delete the App Store?

I think it might be a response to regulations in Europe.

But I’m in the United States.
