iPhone 14 Pro Max Water Resistance

I took my iPhone 14 Pro Max underwater in a pool to take photos and videos. Apple says it is water-resistant for up to 6 meters and 30 minutes. If I keep it underwater at a shallower depth, like 1 or 2 meters, will it last longer than 30 minutes?

Hey!

The iPhone 14 Pro Max is water-resistant, rather than fully waterproof.

It’s rated IP68, which means it can withstand submersion in fresh water up to 6 meters (around 19.6 feet) for up to 30 minutes .

If you keep it underwater at a shallower depth, like 1 or 2 meters, it should still maintain its water resistance for the same duration—30 minutes .

Beyond that, I recommend being cautious to avoid any potential damage.

I wouldn’t advise purposefully drowning the phone. Water resistance is intended for mishaps like being in the rain or dropping it in the pool, for example; water damage is not covered under warranty.
Because water resistance can deteriorate over time, I would advise investing in a suitable waterproof case.
