Even with all the power of the M4 chip, nothing stops the bugs and glitches that make my iPad freeze. Right now my iPad Pro M4 cannot play any videos on any apps It’s unbelievable I can’t wrap my head around it I’m convinced that no matter how strong an iPad chip is, if iPadOS doesn’t improve, there will always be issues
I know I can turn off my device, but seriously With all the hype about how strong this chip and iPad Pro M4 are, there should be no reason why videos stop playing across the system, including other apps This makes no sense At least photos load fine but videos won’t play at all no matter what app I use even in the photos app Previously, I had my M4 freezing and becoming unresponsive and now videos are totally locked down I might be looking to sell

I haven’t had this problem with my iPad Pro
What troubleshooting have you tried so far to figure it out
I’ve done all the basic troubleshooting to find the issue I turned on airplane mode, turned off Wi-Fi, turned Wi-Fi back on, closed all my apps, force closed everything, and reopened them The only fix I found was to power off the device and turn it back on which magically worked There was no way to identify this issue It just happened I took a few screenshots of YouTube and a video in my Photos app that wouldn’t play but that’s all I have No real cause at all
@Aspen
This sounds like a possible network issue Is it all videos even those saved locally or just ones from the internet Does it happen only on your home network or other networks too
Edit: I see it’s happening on the photos app I would definitely recommend wiping the device and starting fresh If that doesn’t fix it, take it to Apple This is not normal behavior
@Wei
It happened with all videos including local ones recorded from my iPhone and downloaded videos and any over the internet My other devices were able to play videos during the outage It’s not my home network it’s an iPadOS 17 issue
@Aspen
You can’t just say it’s an iPadOS 17 issue without proof I’m using iOS 17 with no problems like yours Wipe the iPad and start fresh and go from there

I don’t expect it to act up for long after restarting But wiping the iPad doesn’t solve anything just sets it up for a new owner Bugs will still exist because it’s the same operating system Just admit it iPadOS 17 isn’t good
@Aspen
Just because you are having issues doesn’t mean they are bugs A bug is a software glitch many people face not just one This is your issue
I have the same iPad same chip and same iPadOS version and I have zero problems I feel bad you’re having issues but this has nothing to do with iPad or iPadOS
@Aspen
You are jumping to conclusions Your frustration won’t fix anything A fresh install can resolve strange bugs like yours An OS can have little issues as it becomes more complex Apple does better than others but they aren’t immune
It’s possible you have a hardware issue but I think it’s likely a network or graphics driver issue A reinstall could help with that

All the comments just show OP saying no to every suggestion lol If you don’t want to fix it, stop complaining about it being broken
I’m just sharing my experience with the M4 so far If you read my post, you would have seen that I said I know I could just reboot it and it would work fine There will be someone who also runs into the same issues
The M4 on iPadOS 17 isn’t that impressive I’m glad you love yours
@Aspen
If a reboot fixes it, that points to a bug not a core problem with iOS 17 You’ve demonstrated that you don’t quite understand how the operating system works You’ve gotten a lot of good advice here take it and fix your issue This is not an iOS 17 problem
