Good morning.
I was holding out for the new iPad since last year because my iPad 7 was really lagging behind on all the newer features. I was tempted to pick up the iPad 10 but decided to wait for the iPad 11, hoping it would come out in 2024. Well, here we are, still no iPad 11 in sight. It’s pretty frustrating, to say the least.
I finally decided to just get the iPad 10 in yellow, at least it’s my favorite color, so I feel a bit better about it. I’ve wanted to upgrade for so long, and I guess this will still be an improvement over my old iPad 7.
But honestly, I’m skeptical about Apple’s so-called smart features. The new Siri seems nice, but who really uses Siri during a lecture or while working on PDFs? And handwriting recognition? I could just use ChatGPT or Gemini to summarize stuff if needed. Nothing feels especially new or useful for what I actually do.
Has anyone here switched to the iPad 10? What are your thoughts on it? I’d love to hear some honest reviews.
@Quincy
Even that would surprise me. It might be as powerful as the iPad mini if they release it with a new chip, which would make it more expensive. It’s a tricky situation.
Honestly, I think you made the best choice for your needs right now.
You’ve been using an iPad 7 for a while, so the 10th gen will be great.
The iPad 10 had a recent price drop, and the USB-C Apple Pencil is available now. The first-gen Pencil was really annoying to work with compared to the new one. I doubt the iPad 11 will drop the price of the 10th gen either. You’re getting a great price and good accessories.
Apple’s smart features are still being improved, but I think what’s coming might not impress you. Since you’ve been using an older device, you probably won’t miss it.
The iPad 11 might not have those smart features, and if it does, it won’t be out for a while. The new iPad Mini with those features starts at $500, so the iPad 11 wouldn’t be a budget option.
Overall, the iPad 10 is a solid choice, especially at $350. I loved it when I had it—my needs were just a bit different.

I wouldn’t stress it at all. The M1 iPads work great, and nothing really uses all that power.
I could have picked up the M1 chip, but you can’t find those anymore—only used ones. At that price, I’d rather buy the M2, but $700 is too much. Apple really raises prices based on specs, which isn’t fair for buyers.

Oh man, I’m silly then. I just got the new M4 iPad Pro, and it’s my first iPad. I guess I don’t know which one you’re talking about. When you said you got an older one, I assumed it was the M1. But even the older iPads are great, so I doubt your iPad won’t handle what you need.
@West
No worries at all. I feel the same; other features were too much for me since I mostly use my MacBook for everything. But having something portable is nice too.

Definitely. You should be all set with your tablet. Congrats on the purchase, and enjoy it.
