Easter egg rainbow effect when you tap your phone to your Apple Watch?

When I tapped the upper right corner of my phone to my Apple Watch, both the watch and the phone vibrated. Does anyone know what this signifies? My intuition tells me that it must be an Apple Pay issue, but when I search for it, all I get is details about the rainbow watch bands.

In iOS 17 and watchOS 10, there’s a new feature that lets you quickly exchange contact information and use AirDrop. Interestingly, it also works between an Apple Watch and an iPhone that share the same iCloud account, although they don’t actually exchange information—they just show the animation. If you want to turn off this feature, go to Settings > General > AirDrop and turn off “Bringing Devices Together” on your iPhone, or go to Settings > Contacts > NameDrop on your Apple Watch.

It’s funny, but it’s not an Easter egg. It is actually called Name Drop.

Haha, thanks! It is just really over the top and does not give any hints to share. I did not expect it to work between your own devices. I didn’t think it was an Easter egg, but Cunningham’s Law made me realize I’d get a better response.

It is really frustrating to have both a work phone and a personal phone.
