I got vision OS 2.0, but the Mac virtual display hasn’t changed. How do you turn it on?
It hasn’t been released yet. The widescreen feature isn’t even in the Beta.

Noooooooo
Wasn’t it supposed to come out later this year?
Rumor has it that Apple’s October event will focus on Macs. A MacOS update is needed for the widescreen to work since the rendering happens on the Mac, not the headset. Maybe they’ll launch it then?

That would be a perfect time to enable it.
You’ll have to wait for a future update in both Vision OS and MacOS. It’s expected to be out near the end of the year.
Knowing Apple, they’ll probably limit it to new devices. Really hope it works with my M2 MacBook Air.

At WWDC, they said it would work on any Apple Silicon Mac.
You can use a third-party tool like BetterDisplay or DisplayBuddy to get 21:9 or 32:9 ratios, but you won’t have control over screen curvature or foveated rendering.

Seems like every feature I want is always ‘coming later.’
Sigh

Honestly, I don’t think we’ll see it this year. That’s really disappointing.

Why do you say that? They said it was planned for later this year, and there’s a Mac event likely in October. The widescreen feature needs MacOS updates for it to work, so it wasn’t expected until after that.

I’d love to be proven wrong if it happens in October, but I’m not holding my breath.
