Why didn’t they just add these features to the Action Button instead of putting in a whole new thing? Wouldn’t that make it easier?
Totally agree. They showed off the camera button and how after you press it, a light double press gives you this mini touchpad for zooming. I immediately thought, isn’t swiping left from the lock screen and pinching to zoom way faster?

I’m not trying to back up Apple, but maybe it’s like half a second faster? You could grab the phone, click the button in your pocket, and by the time you pull it out it’s ready. Instead of pulling out, turning on the screen, and swiping left first.

Sure, that might be quicker, but the demo they gave where you use the button for zooming seemed like too much.

Yeah, that was over the top lol. Not going through all that. My 15 is fine for everyday stuff. AI stuff is cool, but I won’t use it much. Only reason I’d upgrade is for the blue color, but mine already looks almost white, so it’s a pass for me.

If I need to snap a quick picture or video in a pinch, I just use my meta glasses.
Nah, it’s not needed lol. But it’s a fun feature. Just like the action button, I don’t see myself using it much. Not saying it’s pointless, just not for how I use my phone.
I’ve got the 15 Pro Max and use the action button for the flashlight. Sure, there’s a flashlight icon on the lock screen and control center, but for me, holding the action button is easier than tapping through screens.
Feels like a gimmick. I’ve had iPhones and Androids with the double-tap power button to open the camera for like 5 years now. Used it maybe 4 times, mostly by accident. But I did switch it to open Google Wallet instead, and that was handy.
Is it just me, or is this gonna push more people to use portrait mode all the time? No one turns their phones sideways for landscape shots anymore, and now they’re gonna be waving their phones around to capture stuff. It’s kinda annoying.
Definitely another Apple gimmick. It pretty much sums up the difference between the 15 and 16 models.
