Do Original iPhone Wallpapers Stay After iOS 18 Update? … Anyone Know?

I’m thinking of updating my iPhone 15 Pro to iOS 18. But every time I’ve updated in the past, the original wallpapers disappeared. I’m really hoping the wallpapers in the photo will stay after the update. Does anyone know if they’ll still be there after updating?

Still upset at losing the dynamic 13 Pro wallpapers. That blue one was the best wallpaper Apple has ever released (apart from iOS 12).

I’m really in love with the 15 Pro wallpapers. I like the 16 Pro ones because they react to the touch, but lack the style of the 15 Pro wallpapers.

Yes. If it gets replaced automatically (which it shouldn’t), you can find the wallpaper again in the ‘Collections’ section of the wallpaper picker.

@Wade
Thanks. I didn’t want to update it before because these wallpapers are nice and there are good animations on AOD.

Counter point, I have a 15 Pro on 18.2, and I don’t see it anywhere.

@Keegan
Can confirm. The titanium wallpapers are missing.

You know, that’s something with older devices. Any device after the iPhone 14 has its default wallpapers intact and untouched after any major update. It was a thing with the older pre-14 release that had their default wallpapers removed (eg: Xr, 11, 12, 13) but 14 and onwards have their wallpapers in collections I think

I have a 15 and its default wallpapers are there.
Also, I’m going to download the wallpaper you posted and use it as my wallpaper. Thanks lol.

@Wade
They are completely gone on my 15 Pro :persevere:

So the behavior is actually inconsistent? Oh, Apple…

What version are you on? Maybe it’s an iOS 18.2 thing :thinking:

@Grayson
I’m on 18.1.1.

@Wade
yeah no. they disappear for whatever reason.

I’m on a 15 Pro Max and the default wallpapers disappeared during an iOS 18 beta but were eventually brought back.

On the latest iOS 18.1 stable release, it’s still there, but as of the past 3 iOS 18.2 betas, the iPhone 15 Pro wallpaper has been MIA. Now we are on the Release Candidate, and it still hasn’t been brought back.

Also, the iPad mini 6 default wallpaper is not there despite being the same defaults for the iPad mini 7 lmao.

@Wade
They’re gone on mine. The collections section just has the crown fish, rainbow strips, and the floating colored dots.

It’s kind of frustrating too. They got rid of all the wallpapers that would change based on the time of day, all those scenic artistic drawing ones.

@Jane
U didn’t do anything wrong… it’s a bug probably and if it’s intentional, then it’s gone permanently… they have been adding it back and removing again and again with betas and on RC now is again missing

@Olin
Ok, so I can only wait for their update later :persevere:

That’s the only choice currently… you have another option though… if you’ve already set the wallpaper, then they will stay even after the update.

@Olin
It’s honestly so annoying that on the iPad mini 6, the default wallpaper is gone there too, which is funny because the mini 7 didn’t get to have a new design.
