Did Snapchat really remove the dark icon unless you pay?

Using ‘Tinted’ still works but this seems unnecessary.

I decided to delete the app a month ago when they started sending me ads in my messages. Every good feature now needs a Snapchat+ subscription. And that AI chat I couldn’t remove? That was the last straw.

@DavidEvans2
Totally agree. Ads in private messages are just too much.

@DavidEvans2
Wait, they actually DM ads now? Sounds like some Viber nonsense. I stopped using Snapchat two years ago. Honestly, who even uses it anymore?

@DavidEvans2
Before I delete it, does anyone know how I can save all my memories to my phone gallery?

Maybe it’s finally time to delete Snapchat. No one really uses it anymore anyway. All they do now is send ads and random promos. The good days of Snapchat are long gone.

This is a solid reason to delete the app, in my opinion.

Nothing is more frustrating than having free features moved behind a subscription.

You can work around it by using the Shortcuts app on your iPhone. Create a new shortcut that opens Snapchat, rename it, and set a custom icon from the internet. It’s a bit of a hassle, though.

@Paxton
Way too many steps. Easier to just delete the app.

This reminds me of when MyFitnessPal did something similar. I switched to FitBee instead.

Snapchat keeps making bad decisions. It used to be cool, but now they expect us to pay just to remove their AI chat? Ridiculous.

Every app seems to go this way eventually. It was only a matter of time for Snapchat, unfortunately.

Guess I’ll just hide the app on my homescreen and turn off notifications.

I just tried it, and the icon turns black for me.

Are you sure your app is updated to the latest version?

I tend to delete apps when they pull these kinds of stunts.

Yeah, I deleted LinkedIn when they introduced those endless scrolling videos.

Are you sure it’s not a bug? I noticed this after updating to 18.3 Beta, but I can’t remember updating Snapchat itself recently.

Could be a bug. Why would they add the feature only to take it away again?
