Did I mess up going with the base iPhone 16 and not the Pro?

I upgraded from an old iPhone 12 that was really on its last legs. It worked fine for me, so I figured the new base model would be plenty. I’ve never had a Pro model and didn’t think I’d need the extra features. On paper, they always seemed more than I’d ever use.

But while waiting for my new phone to arrive, I stopped at a store to grab a case and checked out the Pro models. That smooth 120hz display really stood out to me. Scrolling and swiping felt way more fluid.

Now that my base 16 has arrived, I like it overall. It does everything I need, but after seeing the Pro, the 60hz display feels a bit sluggish. For only about $170 more, I could’ve upgraded, and since I tend to keep my phones for 4+ years, that doesn’t feel like a massive difference.

My carrier says I’d need to return my 16, wait for them to process it, and then they’d ship me the Pro. I’d be without a phone for at least a week, which isn’t an option. So, should I just stick with this one and move on?

Anyone else feel the same way about the base 16? Or are there people happy they skipped the Pro? Let me know if I’m overthinking this.

Honestly, I don’t notice a difference between 60hz and higher refresh rates. For me, it’s not a big deal at all, but I guess it depends on the person.

I use a 165hz monitor daily for gaming and media. When it comes to most things like photos and videos, 60hz feels just fine because most of the content doesn’t need anything higher.

I’m loving my base 16 and have no regrets about not going Pro.

Only get the Pro if you’ll actually use all its extra features. Otherwise, I’d rather spend that money on good accessories.

I got the 16 and I’m happy with it. Before this, I had the 12 mini.

Same here. No complaints at all.

It’s all about getting used to it. Moving from the 12 to the 16 already gives you better performance and some cool new features. Spending extra on 120hz might not be worth it unless you’re making money off your phone’s camera or need the higher refresh rate for gaming. I’d say invest in some nice accessories instead and enjoy your phone.

I had the same thoughts before getting my base 16. I considered the Pro, but everyone said the base model is just as good as last year’s Pro. Honestly, I’m really happy with my choice.

The base model is lighter and smaller, which I personally prefer. The Pro’s refresh rate is tempting, but I don’t think it’s worth the extra weight and size.

I went with the base model and used the extra money to get a charger, AirPods, and some cases. No regrets here.

I had a phone with 120hz before, but I usually kept it at 60hz to save battery. I also use a 144hz PC monitor but don’t feel like 60hz on my phone bothers me at all.

I had the same debate with myself. 120hz is definitely smoother, but it didn’t seem worth the price difference for me. After a week of using my base model, I don’t even notice the lower refresh rate anymore.

I love my base 16. I’ve seen the Pro models in stores, and while the displays are nice, I don’t think it’s enough to sway me. The colours on the base 16 are beautiful, and I went for more storage instead of the Pro. I feel like this phone will last me for years, and I’m happy with my choice.

I had the 15 Pro for a bit but switched to the base model. Honestly, I couldn’t even tell the difference in the screen refresh rate, so I think you made a good choice.

I felt a bit unsure at first because I really liked the Pro’s natural titanium colour. But I tried 120hz in-store and didn’t think it was that amazing. For me, paying that much more isn’t worth it. I’ll wait until it comes to the base models.
