Can Apple give me a new phone if mine has issues but no warranty?

My phone won’t connect to Bluetooth, and I spent time with support updating the iOS, resetting settings, and running tests. I’m going to the store on Monday, but if my phone isn’t under warranty, will I have to pay full price for a new one? I get how warranties work, but it seems unfair if it’s a problem on Apple’s end.

When you buy the phone, you get a warranty that covers stuff like this. You can extend it with AppleCare+, but if you don’t, and your warranty runs out, then you’ll have to pay for repairs or a replacement. That’s how it works with pretty much any electronics company.

If you think that’s unfair, I get it, but you won’t find many devices that come with a lifetime warranty. iPhones don’t.

Yeah, it wouldn’t be reasonable for Apple to offer lifetime warranties for every product they make. Imagine them covering an Apple II from 1978!

Lol, I bought this less than two years ago. Sorry for asking! I just wanted to be informed before going in. No need to be rude about it

You think I’m being rude because I don’t agree that Apple should replace your two-year-old phone for free? :open_mouth:

No, you’re rude for making fun of a simple question. I appreciate the helpful responses from others, but maybe don’t mock people for trying to understand something

I’m sorry if I hurt your feelings, but I just didn’t find your question reasonable.

You literally rolled your eyes in your comment. It’s fine, but some people in this thread actually helped without being rude.

Did Apple agree to extend your warranty?

That has nothing to do with your rude attitude, lol.

What do you expect? You didn’t buy extra coverage, and now you want Apple to replace your phone for free?

Not sure why you’re upset. Warranties are there for a reason, and if you don’t extend them, it’s on you.

Haha, I was more into the Apple II-GS. Haven’t thought about that in years!

It’s your problem, the phone is out of warranty.

Once the warranty’s over, any issue is on you.

In some cases, yes. I have an iPhone 12 mini, and two weeks ago, I went to the Apple Store to get the battery replaced. When they replaced the battery, they found it failed a bunch of other tests, so they replaced the phone for free. So even though it’s unlikely, you might get lucky and have a similar outcome.

Phones don’t last forever. You could argue the iPhone 6 had planned obsolescence because it was so bad when they updated iOS, but newer phones are solid for at least a few years.
