Hey everyone, I know this is a bit long, so thanks for reading.
I just got my Pixel 9 Pro, and I’m loving the phone so far. I was a little unsure about the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, but after using it, I’m really impressed with how fast it works. Definitely wouldn’t want to switch back.
But here’s the issue: the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor is really giving me trouble when it comes to finding a good screen protector. I’m looking for a screen protector that works without messing up the fingerprint sensor.
I don’t need one that’s super tough since I trust the phone’s glass for that. Mainly I just need something to keep it safe from scratches, especially from things like keys in my pocket.
I’ve even thought about using ceramic coating (like the stuff you use on cars), but I haven’t seen much info on how well that works for phones.
If anyone has already tried out some screen protectors for the Pixel 9 series, please share your experience! Would love some recommendations.
Thanks!
TL;DR: Looking for a screen protector for the Pixel 9 that won’t mess with the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor.
When I first got my Pixel 9 Pro, I bought the Ultraglass Unbreak screen protector because I liked that it covered the front camera and had an easy applicator that helped get rid of dust during installation. But it completely ruined the fingerprint sensor. It only worked about 1 out of 10 times, and re-registering fingerprints didn’t help.
I ended up finding a similar protector that has the same features but doesn’t mess up the fingerprint reader. Here’s the link on Amazon for anyone interested:

I’ve been looking at this one. How does it fit around the earpiece? I don’t see a cutout for it. Does it affect the sound?

I had the same worry, but the screen protector actually sits below the earpiece, so it doesn’t cover it at all. You get full coverage for the screen without messing with the speaker.

I tried this one too. It’s like it’s not even there. Fits perfectly and feels nice to the touch. Didn’t expect much, but I was pleasantly surprised.
I got a JETech screen protector from Amazon before my phone even arrived. No issues with the fingerprint sensor or the front camera. I went for this one because it doesn’t have a cutout for the front camera, which just collects dust anyway. The front camera works just fine under the screen protector.
I don’t get why companies make cutouts for the front camera, especially since they also sell protectors for the rear cameras that are just a piece of glass over them.

With face unlock and the occasional use of the fingerprint reader, I haven’t had any issues (at least compared to the Pixel 7 and 6).
On the Pixel 9, I love the Spigen Glas.tR EZ Fit. Haven’t had a single issue so far. I wanted to try the dbrand protector, but it wasn’t available when I looked.
