Been using the Ultra 2 for almost a year now … as a fan of mechanical watches this thing has become a must-have for me

I’ve been wearing the Ultra 2 for almost a year, and even though I love mechanical watches, this smartwatch has become something I can’t live without.

I’ve always thought the battery complication is a waste of space on a watch with a three-day battery life.

I own Rolexes, Omegas, APs, and more, but the Apple Watch Ultra is my go-to for running, climbing, camping, and other activities. It outperforms traditional watches in ways that are almost funny. I still wear my mechanical watches for normal stuff though. Don’t need emails on my wrist at Costco, and my heart rate doesn’t matter when I’m not working out. The Apple Watch is my most-worn watch, lol.

I sold my mechanical watches 2-3 years ago. They became occasional pieces—dinners, important meetings, etc. After not wearing a birth-year Rolex for a year, I decided to sell it and invest the money instead. I work in sales, and while mechanical watches were everywhere 10 years ago, now it’s all Apple Watches. It’s like a corporate uniform now. I still love looking at cool watches, but I don’t own any anymore.

@Blane
I wear both, one on each wrist.

I once destroyed a smartwatch while climbing (hit a rock during a fall). Now I’m scared to wear my Ultra 2 while climbing.

I’ve accepted that I’ll probably wreck my Ultra eventually. I’ll just buy a new one when it happens.

How do you get that step counter complication?

It’s from an app called Duffy.

Thanks, mate.

It’s my travel watch. Having navigation on my wrist while pushing a stroller has been a game-changer. Still, I don’t like wearing it with a suit.
