Apple might reveal new Final Cut Pro update soon with added features… any guesses on what’s coming?

The person who posted says Apple is expected to announce a big update for Final Cut Pro at the upcoming Final Cut Pro Creative Summit. Here’s what they think could be included:

  • Ability to edit spatial videos from devices like the iPhone 15 Pro and Canon EOS R7
  • AI-generated effects and auto-captions for videos
  • A ‘Magnetic Mask’ tool that isolates moving objects

The update might even be for both the Mac and iPad versions… Could be version 10.9 or maybe a whole new Final Cut Pro 11?

Here’s a quick summary for anyone interested:

Looks like Apple will bring new features to Final Cut Pro at the Final Cut Pro Creative Summit starting Wednesday:

  • Editing for spatial videos from iPhone 15 Pro and Canon EOS R7
  • AI-based effects and automatic captions
  • A ‘Magnetic Mask’ to help isolate moving objects

Some features might be for both Mac and iPad Final Cut Pro versions. Could be a big update, either 10.9 or the start of Final Cut Pro 11 .

@Westley
Definitely excited about more AI features… Right now, I use Descript for certain things before transferring files to Final Cut Pro, but would be great to keep it all in one place.

Yeah, keeping it simple is always better! What does Descript do?

@Westley
Here’s the link: https://www.descript.com/

The main feature is editing video by editing text, and it automatically removes words you don’t want.

Premiere Pro has that feature too.

@Conley
I actually gave up Adobe a long time ago. Sticking with that choice.

@Conley
What’s that feature called in Premiere? I pay for it but barely use a fraction of what it can do.

Here’s a guide on it: https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/using/text-based-editing.html

@Westley
Final Cut Pro Creative Summit? Isn’t this like, an unofficial event? When did Apple start making big announcements outside of their events? 2006 maybe? What’s happening here?

@Westley
Isn’t the iPad version called ‘Final Cut Pro for iPad 2’? Think they’ll update to 2.1 or 3 this time?

Loving the idea of adding AI features to Final Cut Pro, but please don’t ever make the Mac app subscription-based. Ever.

Apple’s approach has always been to include everything upfront… Also known as the ‘Apple Tax’.

@Reese
They already do the ‘Apple Tax’ plus subscriptions on the iPad version though… so who knows.

Where’s the Logic Pro update? We haven’t seen anything for almost 7 months now.

Seriously, a plugin search feature would make a huge difference.

Honestly, 7 months isn’t that long compared to a few years back when it seemed like Logic Pro was barely getting any attention.

@Jordan
Logic has been far from ‘almost dead’ though… It’s been competing with Pro Tools pretty strongly over the last decade. Tons of people use it.

Can’t wait for them to put this version on demo Macs so I can airdrop it to my device.

Wait, seriously? Is that something people actually do?
