I’m thinking of getting either a Chromebook or a Kindle, but I saw that Chromebooks have a Kindle app. How well does it work? Does it drain the battery faster? And how’s the reading experience? I know it doesn’t use e-ink, so I’m wondering how it compares.
It works a lot like a real Kindle. Full screen, you tap to change pages, and it automatically saves your place when you close the app. I haven’t noticed any extra battery drain. The only downside is that you’re still using a laptop, so it’s not as comfy as a Kindle.

Thanks for the info!
Honestly, I use my Chromebook more than my Kindle these days. I just set it on my lap, adjust the screen, and read without holding anything. Feels more convenient to me.
Haven’t tried it yet, but I’ll give it a go today and let you know how it goes.

Appreciate it, thanks!
The app connects to your Amazon library like any other device. I don’t think it drains more battery than when your laptop is just sitting idle.

Wow, so many responses!
I use the reader app on my phone, laptop, and tablet. It’s nice having the same library on all devices no matter where I am.

The Kindle app works great on the Chromebook, pretty much like on the Kindle Fire. But keep in mind, it’s not like the Kindle Paperwhite with its e-ink screen. I prefer using my laptop to read and take notes using read.amazon.com. If you’re more of a casual reader, the Kindle Paperwhite has better battery life. The Kindle Fire is cool, but you need to do some extra work to access the Google Play store. I use a bunch of reading apps, so I like the flexibility of a laptop.

I use Kindle Cloud, but I’m not using an ARM Chromebook. It works fine, but honestly, I got a Kindle 6th edition for cheap, and I prefer it since I can fall asleep reading without worrying about dropping my laptop.
