I’ve always felt like Apple could do more with home screen customization. The grid layout feels limiting compared to what Android offers. Anyone else feel this way?
I’m fine with 6x4, but it would be nice if Apple let us choose a different grid, like Android does. Would be a big shift from their usual locked-down approach, but they have been adding more customization lately.
@Bennett
More space on the screen doesn’t change the grid, but it does make the phone feel less like a toy.
@Bennett
Wait… both iPhone and iPad use the same 6x4 layout?

Yeah, but the iPad used to be better spaced. Not sure if it changed in iOS 15 or 16, but ever since then, everything feels way too spread out. My apps were well-organized on a couple of pages, and then the update messed it all up.
Don’t worry. One day, you’ll get older and appreciate the large text setting.
I’ve switched to ‘large icons, no text labels’ on my Pro Max. Always wished Apple would let us remove app names without making icons huge. Would be a great way to make the wallpaper more visible.

Same. App names make the home screen look cluttered. I’d prefer normal-sized icons with no labels.

I need this for my 12 mini!
You got the Mini, what did you expect?
You can make the text a bit smaller in settings.
Yeah, I always check settings hoping I can make the text smaller, but it’s already at the lowest setting. Using a 16PM, and the display could definitely fit more on screen.

Just tried making the text smaller on my 12 Pro Max. Never thought about it before. Still getting used to it.
@Hozier
If your eyesight is good, you’ll probably like it.
Hopefully, buying a Pro Max or Plus isn’t just about bigger text. At least CarPlay got an extra row.
I want real custom icons, not just different colors or dark mode. Yeah, you can do it through Shortcuts, but it’s way too much work if you have a lot of apps.
I’ve been using iPhones since the 3GS, and honestly, the home screen layout is getting stale. Android feels more balanced between screen resolution and UI, while iPhones stick to the same old look.
If you can jailbreak, try Atria. Best tweak for customizing your home screen layout. Haven’t found anything as good for Android.
Haha, I need more storage too… just don’t want to pay for it.
