Just saw these blue marks on my charger. It came with my iPhone about a year back, and it’s the official one.
Pretty sure that’s oxidation, but that’s as far as I know, sorry.

Could it be from high humidity where the person who posted lives? The blue marks tend to show up where the cable might be weaker. Maybe moisture got in and reached the copper.
@Lane
I live in New Orleans and I’ve had cables in worse shape, but no blue marks like this. Strange!
It looks like copper oxidation, maybe corrosion. This usually happens if there’s no shielding and it’s exposed to moisture. Is it humid where you are?

Or maybe denim dye from carrying it in your jeans?
@Raine
Denim dye is usually darker and would cover more of the cable. This blue-green color happens where the wire heats up, so it’s probably not from jeans.
Could be the blue Takis!
@Scout
Apple’s plan for going green by 2030 is on track .
@Scout
Just Apple’s way of keeping things eco-friendly. Nothing strange here.
@Scout
Looks like the person who posted just realised they might be a bit colour-blind.

Every day I learn something new feeling old now.
Maybe copper oxidized and is leaking through?

Yeah, I think so too. Haven’t seen this before, but I’d probably stop using it.

Could it have gotten wet? That might cause the copper to corrode and leak out.
@Bennett
Just stop using those cables.
@Bennett
Get some Anker cables—they last way longer.
I just keep using all my old USB-C cables and left the original ones in the box.
