I keep seeing all these videos that show off ‘secret’ iPhone tricks, but I usually already know them. So I’m asking here… anyone got 10 iPhone tricks I probably haven’t heard of? Surprise me with something new!
Here’s one! Take a screenshot and draw a quick circle around some text, but don’t let go. Keep holding the messy circle you made and watch it turn into a neat one.

Actually, you can do more than just circles! Try drawing a triangle and hold; it’ll clean up the shape. You can add a rectangle to make an arrow shape, too.
@Clarke
Wow, I didn’t know you could build up shapes like that .

Mind blown by this .

Thanks! Really useful tip.

Can someone explain what this is supposed to do?

Just tried it, and it’s awesome! I even figured out that if you draw an infinity symbol, it erases whatever is underneath it.

Hmm, I can’t get this to work. When I try pressing on the screen, it just highlights text or swipes the picture.
@Drew
Try switching to picture edit mode, it should work there.
@Drew
Same here! Anyone have more details on this?

Why don’t they make this feature more well-known?
When you’re typing, press and hold the space bar… this lets you move the cursor through the text like a trackpad. So much easier than tapping around .

Yeah, I knew about this one and use it all the time. Super handy feature.

Why is someone downvoting a helpful comment?
If you press and hold certain app icons, you can jump right into specific sections. Like the App Store… you can go straight to Updates from your Home Screen.

That’s a leftover from the 3D Touch days, I think.
Some things off the top of my head:
- Sideload apps using a custom DNS server… this works for apps like modded YouTube.
- Custom icons + widgets. You can use the Shortcuts app to set your own icons. iOS 18 even lets you add a tint to custom icons, which is a nice touch.
- Reduce white point. Great if your phone is too bright even on the lowest setting. This is in accessibility settings, and I linked it to triple-clicking the side button.
- Back tap. Double-tap the back of your phone to open the control center or notification center (you can pick your function).
- Action button mapping. With the ‘Actions’ app, you can set your action button to different functions based on orientation or time.
- Quick scroll to the top. Just tap under the Dynamic Island, and you’re back at the top of any page.
- One-handed keyboard. Tap and hold the emoji icon, then choose left or right to make the keyboard easier to use with one hand.
- Easier number access on the keyboard. Instead of switching to the number keyboard, just hold the ‘123’ key and slide over to a number, then release.
