Will the next Apple Watch have blood pressure monitoring… anyone know anything about this

I have a wristband that measures blood pressure optically, and it’s very accurate. I need to upgrade my Apple Watch soon (I have the original SE), but I’m holding off because there’s a rumor that Apple might add blood pressure monitoring to the next model. It would be great to only wear one device.

Does anyone have any info on whether this is likely to happen in the next version?

I’ve always thought it was just a rumor because most optical bands need monthly calibration with a Bluetooth arm monitor, and Apple usually avoids designs like that. But the rumor keeps coming up.

It would be really frustrating if I buy a Series 10 and then the feature comes out this fall.

No one here knows for sure. You should check macrumors.com for updates.

Thanks, I’ve checked there, but the posts aren’t very clear. Perplexity.ai says it’s coming in the next version, based on this MacRumors article from last year: link. I was hoping someone here might have more recent info.

@Tate
It might come with the next watch, but it probably won’t give exact numbers. It might just tell you if your blood pressure is above or below normal.

It was mentioned that it could take at least a year or more for the legal issues to be resolved. Unless Apple creates their own monitor that doesn’t violate existing patents, I wouldn’t expect it in the Series 11.

@HenryElla2
I thought that legal issue was about the blood oxygen sensor, not the blood pressure monitor.
