Refresh rate isn’t everything. The iPhone display excels in color accuracy, battery life, and longevity compared to cheap Android displays. Higher refresh rates on Androids often come with compromises. Apple focuses on features like ProMotion for the Pro models to differentiate them.
I agree. Apple definitely needs to step it up.
If the next iPhone I buy has a 120Hz display, I hope I can set it back to 60Hz to save battery. I prefer longer battery life over smooth scrolling.

You can do that with the battery saver mode.
Xiaomi phones are heavily subsidized and loaded with ads and bloatware. Apple isn’t perfect, but they don’t rely on those kinds of practices. I get why people buy cheaper phones, but Apple’s strategy is more about consistent quality and value.
I know I’ll get downvoted, but you’re right. Apple isolates better features in higher models to make more money. It’s just economics, but it’s not consumer-friendly.
