The Apple Watch has been out for 10 years, but it still can’t track snow shoveling as exercise time. Meanwhile, walking around the house gets counted. I just spent an hour digging out two cars and a driveway, and it only recorded 4 minutes of exercise … two of those were from walking my dog earlier.
Try starting an Other workout.
The lack of specific snow sports options is also frustrating. Snowboarding, skiing, snowshoeing … all very different activities.
I use mixed cardio for shoveling, but it feels like a workaround.

I use Functional Strength Training for shoveling.

What does workaround mean
@Tatum
A workaround is a temporary solution to a problem.
Snow shoveling is best tracked under Other workout. Snow weight and temperature vary, so it’s hard to measure effort beyond heart rate and movement.
Start a custom workout manually in the workout app.
I use the Snow Sports setting. Other workout works too.
Same reason they don’t have assembling IKEA furniture as a workout option.
LOL … I shoveled for 45 minutes and got one exercise minute and 50 active calories. So accurate, right
I start a functional workout for shoveling
I use the Play option.
I just count it as Other.
It’s designed in California, where it doesn’t snow. And Apple engineers probably don’t shovel snow.
I’ve used the HIIT setting, and it works okay. I’ll try some of the other suggestions here.

True, but it also doesn’t have lawn mowing as an option. That can be a workout too.
I didn’t start a workout, but my watch still recorded exercise minutes while I was shoveling. I got over 50 minutes for an hour of work .
