Why does everyone say 60hz is bad? Like yeah I can agree that for a 2023 phone it’s a bit questionable but it’s not that bad?

I use a 165hz monitor, it’s a 24” screen. then I use my 60hz phone, there’s no issue

I think they’re more upset that for $800 new it should’ve had 120hz which I’m in agreement with- as I type this on my 15 plus.

@Tatum
True. But with any 120hz phone you have the option to disable it, or lower the refresh rate. I would like the option; at least, for $900. Would also make standby mode more efficient since it’d have the ability to refresh at 1 frame/second.

I never noticed it until I upgraded to the 16PM and now I definitely notice it. And I’d only ever realised there was an issue with it being 60hz, when I started coming on here hahaha …

But this is the same with any monitor or phone. If you used 180hz you’d get used to that refresh rate and going back to 120 would be weird…

A lot of computer monitors use 60 hz and no one makes a fuss or notices and it’s the same with phones.

I went from using a 120hz Samsung to a 60hz iPhone and I prefer the iPhone screen and barely notice the difference between 120 and 60, and now I’m used to it I forget what it was like before .

I’m happy for apple to invest the money in other things

@Mai
The argument of Apple investing money elsewhere is completely missed as they literally lose money by creating 2 separate screens instead of mass-producing all as 120hz, just as how they lost money by branching out to make basic ip16 have IPS. It’s literally more expensive than OLED at this volume of production.

But they make it up because users pay more for Pro versions :slight_smile:

@Sam
I think apple will always have a difference between the pro and the normal iPhones otherwise not many people would get the pro.

And they sell so many iPhones I guarantee it’s still cheaper to produce two screens at 60 and 120 then to manufacture them all using 120 just through the cost of raw material.

You could make your same argument about the cameras too , why not just put the pro camera in the normal iPhone, Apple obviously won’t do that either.
