Can anyone explain how to delete system data? I’m stuck with a lot of it.
Try turning off your Mac, waiting for 15 minutes, and then turning it back on.

That didn’t work sadly.

In that case, try what others here have suggested.
You can try downloading Daisy Disk. It’s not free, but it shows which folders are taking up space.

I paid for Daisy Disk but still can’t figure out where the rest of the space is. I’ve already deleted about 70GB.

If you’re okay with it, you could share a screenshot of the scan results.
It might be Time Machine local snapshots. Open Disk Utility, select the volume, and toggle to see the snapshots in the View menu. You can delete them here, but be careful, as they are backups. If you don’t have other backups, it’s safer to leave them and the system will delete them when space is needed.
It could be cache. Try figuring out what’s creating all that cache and remove it. I use Disk Space Analyzer to get more info on my hard drive. After Effects was causing me tons of cache issues before.

Do I need to pay for that?

I think I’m still using the free version. It just helps me check which folders are using up the most space.

I got a similar app for about ten bucks, but I still can’t find what’s in the system data. I’ve already cleared out 80GB but there’s still more I can’t locate.
