I’d recommend the Air 4. Nobody’s really using the M1 to its full potential right now because of iPadOS, and the A14 will be more than enough for the next few years.

Good luck with those 4GB of RAM on the Air 4. Even my iPad mini with 4GB starts to struggle with some apps. The extra RAM on the Air 5 makes a big difference.
@Devon
That’s overkill. Unless the person who posted this is planning to do heavy video editing, even the basic iPad will be fine for years.

I’m speaking from my own experience with the iPad mini 6, which has the A15 and 4GB of RAM. It starts rebooting apps if I have too many open. That never happens with the Air 5. Even though I don’t run many apps or do demanding work, 4GB just isn’t enough sometimes.

iPadOS has its limits now, but that could change in the future. The M1 might become more useful as iPadOS evolves.
@Bela
Don’t buy an iPad based on what Apple might do in the future. Get it for what it can do right now. Apple often takes forever to release updates, and by the time they do, there will be a new iPad.

Right now, the M1 doesn’t make much difference unless you’re doing specific tasks like video editing. For most people, the Air 4 is just as fast.
