If you can wait till September, then go for it. If you need a phone now, just get the Pro.
I recently switched from a 12 Pro to the 16 Pro, and I’m regretting not waiting. I upgraded for the cameras because I have a couple of big trips coming up.
Some people in poorer countries want to show off the latest iPhone. If that’s the case, wait for the 17 Pro. I bought the 16 Pro because I prefer a solid device with a proven design. When Apple releases a new design, it’s usually just the old phone with a new wrapper.
Consumerism can be a tough thing to fight.
