Returning to IOS after nearly 10 years… is it worth it?

I wanted to share my excitement about coming back to the Apple ecosystem. My last iPhone was the 6s plus, and it’s been quite a while since I used one. It feels great to be back, and I’m curious to see how much has changed over the years.

I just got the iPhone 16 Pro Max yesterday after using a Galaxy S21+ for four years. My last iPhone was the 8+. I never really left the Apple ecosystem, but checking my iCloud email from an Android device was a bit tricky. It’s really nice to be back.

It really is nice to be back, I love how well the apps are optimized on Apple.

My biggest issue with Samsung was just how unoptimized everything felt. I do miss the universal back button though. The Android Reddit app, for example, has been half broken for at least a year. It crashes when I try to edit a post or open a thread. Updated and reinstalled, still broken. It feels so much smoother on iPhone. Also, iPhones seem to age better than Android devices. I work in device repair and still see 8’s, X’s, and 11’s all the time, and they all work perfectly. I can’t remember the last time someone brought in an older Samsung.

@Crosby
This is why I decided to go for the Pro Max. It should last a long time, and the resale value is great. I was also tired of how Samsung handled OneUI updates. They didn’t even release the latest flagship on time.

@Crosby
For what it’s worth, the iOS Reddit app isn’t perfect either. Half the time I can’t click anything on the homepage, but it works fine elsewhere. Sometimes links don’t work, and when I try to add a hyperlink in a comment, the keyboard messes up. Not exactly optimized.

@Crosby
I had an S21 Ultra. Loved it, but I decided to switch. When I was younger, I wanted an iPhone, but I fell out of favor with the idea. This is my first iPhone, and I have to say they’ve made a lot of improvements. There are still some annoyances, but they’ve solved a lot of issues. I really love the AOD image on it. It looks beautiful.

The case makes it look like a regular phone.

Welcome back! Can I ask why you switched back to Apple? By the way, the case looks nice.

Thanks! I missed the optimization of the apps, the battery improvements, and also the USB-C port.

For me, the USB-C port was the key reason I went back to Apple. It’s been around since the 15 series.

This white case is amazing.

Yeah, I wanted the black case as well, but it just didn’t look right with the phone.

I have the same phone and case combo. After 15 years on Android, this is my first iPhone.

How was the Nothing phone? Really curious about it.

I got my first iPhone (16 Pro) after using Samsung my entire life, and I really wish I switched earlier! My Galaxy 22 would die before the end of my workday, and everything just feels smoother on the iPhone. I miss some customization options and spam filtering the most, but the pros definitely outweigh the cons. I even splurged and got the AirPods Pro, and they sync so well with my phone.

Ah, so you’re back. I thought the cases were coming.

I did the same thing. I still have my S23U, but I can’t bring myself to get rid of it.

I’m trying to decide between the S23U and the 16 Pro. I’m just really scared about the cameras on iPhones. They always look too artificial, and every phone in stores is bolted down, so I can’t get a good feel for how they’d actually feel in my hand. The size is another issue; the S23U is a big phone.

@Amir
You can use different apps if you don’t like the Apple photo edits, or take RAW photos.
