Oh no... What now?

I set the bag on the floor, took it out, and… it happened.

It’s a bit odd now, you’ll probably need to buy a new one soon.

You’re right, looks like I don’t have any other choice.

:joy: No worries… you can still use it, don’t rush to buy a new one.

But seriously, I’ve been thinking about selling the MacBook (not because of this issue, of course). How much do you think this will affect the value?

Yeah, it will lower the resale value, but not too much.

@Sloane
How much do you think it’ll go down?

Maybe around $131.42.

I can’t give you an exact estimate for laptops, but for phones, this kind of thing hurts resale a lot.

I’d say around 15-20% for serious buyers. It could be more if people try to lowball you. It’s not a big deal, and it’s not super noticeable unless you’re really looking at it… honestly, I’d still buy it at a reasonable price.

You never mentioned the model or specs, so it’s hard to say how much the value drops.

@Steele
It’s an M1 Air, 16GB, 512GB, 100% battery capacity with 55 cycles. But I wasn’t asking about the value itself, I was asking how much this will hurt its value.

I get what you’re asking. The value loss depends on how desirable your model is. For example, an M1 MBA with 8GB RAM wouldn’t be as desirable as yours. It’s basic economics.

@Steele
Alright, so how much do you think it’ll affect it?

Honestly, that’s not a bad dent at all. With your specs, it’s unlikely to lose much value, if any.

Is it unusable now?

Don’t worry, you’ll get used to it. Think of it as a war scar.

Now your MacBook is one of a kind :man_technologist:

Embrace it. There’s nothing else you can do. Just don’t abuse it, but now it’s a battle scar.
