I purchased the iPad Air 5th generation and it’s fantastic.
Newer isn’t always better. I’m still making illustrations with a 12-inch 2nd gen iPad Pro I bought in 2017, and it works perfectly for me because I mainly use it for Procreate.
I bought the 9th generation iPad with the first generation Apple Pencil, and it runs great! Since you’re a beginner, you don’t need the newest model.
It depends on size, weight, refresh rate, whether it’s for personal use or work, and how long you want software updates.
Honestly, all iPads are suitable for Procreate.
