No, this new design will be in 18.2. The recently released 18.1 doesn’t have this Mail layout
Is this just a UI change or an Apple Intelligence change
It’s a bit of both. As far as I know, it’s UI because of the buttons to filter, and AI because it uses on-device processing to decide where a message belongs

I really like the new mail app in 18.2, it’s very useful
Did they finally make email chains better? The way iOS shows threaded emails is a big issue for me, it’s really bad. Who at Apple thought it was a good idea to scroll back through emails by hitting the up button
@Sully
That’s how I feel about Gmail. I found it cluttered and unreliable, but Apple mail is great for personal use and Outlook works well for work email. It really depends on individual preferences
The issue is that Google broke a lot of features in the native iOS Mail app to push people towards their Gmail app, especially after Apple allowed users to block apps from tracking them

I don’t get push notifications on Apple’s email either. I might need to check my settings. I like how simple Apple’s email is
I like the simplicity and the look, and I’m trying to move away from Google services, but it doesn’t make sense to have to open the app to check for new emails
