iPad Mini 8 Rumors Are Here

So can we start with the discussion
Should I buy the 7 or wait for the 8
New screen expected for Mini 8

This is a bit sarcastic, but wow that was a weak upgrade

Maybe they have something special planned for the 8 and just wanted to give the 7 a small upgrade to make it AI compatible until next year’s real upgrade

Rumors say the 8 is coming pretty soon

If by pretty soon you mean 2027, then sure

Maybe it will never come because of low sales of the 7

Apple: The iPad mini isn’t selling well. Let’s put old tech in it and treat it poorly.

And nobody buys it.

It doesn’t sell well because of their own decisions

This feels like the iPad Mini 6S

People are crazy if they expected a massive upgrade. The A17 chip is 25% faster than an M1. That’s all you need to know.

Isn’t the A17 Pro more similar in speed to an M2 or M3?

The only reason I want an M chip is for Stage Manager. I’m assuming the new one won’t support it since there’s no mention of it in the press release.

I want it for external display support. Stage Manager itself isn’t really my thing.

Yeah, me too. I don’t care about Stage Manager, just the ability to extend rather than mirror.

I was hoping to mine bitcoin with it

I just wanted to have a light Mac or Chromebook style experience. I might have to buy an older used Pro instead.

I agree.

M4 on the iPad mini would be a joke. M4 on iPads doesn’t even make sense considering how limited iPad OS is, especially on a Mini.

I don’t think iPadOS is limiting. I actually prefer it over my Mac.

Glad to hear it’s working for you. You’re definitely in a minority with that opinion.

Are we just ignoring the 15% slower speed on multi-core?

Yup. That’s not a huge problem for most people. Most people don’t really multitask.

Most people aren’t maxing out an A17 or M1 on a daily basis either though.

They definitely have the data on the mini market to understand the situation.
